One-Quarter of Verizon Shareholders Vote Yes on Net Neutrality

Last month we posted the news that leading institutional investment adviser ISS Proxy Advisory Services recommended that Verizon shareholders support a pro-Net Neutrality proposal at an upcoming meeting.

That meeting took place today and, in an amazing show of power, the proposal garnered 24.1 percent of shareholder votes — three times the number of votes a similar proposal received last year.

The most recent proposal, filed by Trillium Asset Management and the Nathan Cummings Foundation, asks Verizon to report it is “responding to regulatory, competitive, legislative and public pressure to ensure that its network management policies and practices support network neutrality, an Open Internet and the social values described [in the proposal].”
