Go Bigger, Get Louder
We just hit a major milestone: the big 1-0.
That’s right: Free Press is celebrating its first double-digit birthday!
We set out a decade ago to fix a broken media system.
But now we face a more fundamental battle: We're fighting for our rights to connect and communicate.
There's too much at stake for us to play it safe: Corporations are colluding with the government in ways that threaten free expression, privacy and the public interest. Journalists are being treated like criminals. Millions live without access to high-speed Internet. And just a few companies own almost all of our media.
So we can't rest. Our only choice is to go bigger, get louder — and win.
When we started Free Press, we knew that if we could tap into people’s desire to change the corrupt media system, we’d be on to something big. We were right. Over the last decade, we’ve challenged some of the nation’s most powerful institutions and companies — and won, again and again.
But we still have a long way to go.
The fight for our rights to connect and communicate isn't just about getting online. It's also about what we can say and do once we are connected. That's what will determine whether we can flip the balance of power — and put people's voices first.
We’ve learned a lot over the last 10 years, but above all else we know that with amazing activists by our side, we are truly unstoppable.
We don’t take money from business, government or political parties and rely on the generosity of individual donors to fuel our work. Donate today and receive your very own Free Press anniversary sticker! Thank you.
