    WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, Senate Democrats announced that the entire Senate Democratic Caucus is now co-sponsoring legislation to restore open-internet protections. This brings the total to 50 senators who have agreed to support Sen. Ed Markey’s resolution of disapproval, which would undo last month’s unpopular Federal Communications Commission decision to repeal Net Neutrality.

    WASHINGTON — On Monday, sponsorship for Sen. Ed Markey’s resolution of disapproval of last month’s Net Neutrality repeal reached 30 senators, with Sen. Claire McCaskill the most recent to sign on. The 30-sponsors mark in the Senate is significant because under the Congressional Review Act (CRA), that’s the total number of votes needed to discharge a resolution and take it to a vote on the Senate floor.

    WASHINGTON — On Tuesday, Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R–Tennessee) introduced anti-Net Neutrality legislation that she dubbed the “Open Internet Preservation Act.” The bill lacks many of the fundamental guarantees that prevent internet access providers from interfering with online traffic.
  • Momentum Builds to Restore Net Neutrality Rules Gutted by the FCC

    WASHINGTON — On Friday, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer pledged to bring a bill to the floor to undo the Federal Communication Commission's recent repeal of Net Neutrality protections. Since the Thursday FCC vote, 20 senators pledged to back the “resolution of disapproval” — a proceeding authorized under the Congressional Review Act, which requires simple majority votes in the House and Senate to void a new regulation passed by federal agencies.
